How much did you pay for gas today?

    $3.61.

And despite all the bitching about high gas prices I still saw four people getting gas at a station four blocks away at $3.79.

$3.89 in my neighborhood. Saw $3.59 over the weekend near Fredericksburg. Also saw $4.09 this morning in Arlington. I'm sure it's higher than that in D.C.

My car pooling helps ease the pain a little. I gas up about every 2 weeks now. My wife, however, gets absolutely RICK when she fills up once a week.

I guess I'm kinda like whoever it was that said they're not even sweating it anymore. I mean...I gotta have it, so I just bend over, take it, and move on with the more pleasant aspects of my life. It sure sucks balls, though.

$5 a gallon is my bicycle cutoff. At that point, I'm willing to peddle. We might get there by July.

    Paid $3.99 today.

It was 3.95 when I went to work yesterday, 4.07 for the "cheap stuff" when I gassed up leaving work. If it ever stops raining that bike in the corner is looking like a good option.

Read somewhere today that gas prices have gone up every day for the last 35 days. Cannot believe how little attention this is getting compared the spike back in 07-08. Not sure why that is.

Gas is also up 108% since January 20, 2009

RE: the gas station in Orlando. If it's the one I'm thinking of it's right near most of the rental car places near the Orlando airport. Pulled in there to fill up a couple years ago and it was ridiculously high then. Drove a couple of blocks away and the price was comparable to the cost at the time. Don't know how that station gets away with it.

You mean, peddle for money to buy a bike? Or pedal said bike?

    (sorry, couldn't resist)

The main reason it's not getting all that much attention is that we've seen this movie before. Once it surpasses the record high, media will certainly start focusing more on it.

In DFW, it peaked at $3.99 for regular unleaded. Very few stations went over $4 and it was $3.99 pretty much across the board. I think a lot of dealers were reluctant to be the first to go over.

On a related note, how has everyone's shop handled mileage rates?

Ours hasn't increased since sometime earlier this year, from $.35 to $.37.

We're at 32 cents a mile and have been since our current company bought this string of papers from JRC in 2007.

I've been itching to bring this up at our editorial meeting and keep forgetting.

Oh, and since I don't make enough to itemize deductions, claiming the loss vs. IRS mileage rates does nothing for me. :)

BTW, saw one gas station here go from $3.99 at noon to $4.09 at 5 p.m.
