It's jumped to $4.05 in some places around here, and as high as $4.15 in places like Louisville and Lexington.

That's in anticipation of all the buildings that will be set on fire with gasoline on Saturday night ...

Paid $4.399 today in the suburbs, and felt like I got a steal.

$3.70 is as cheap as it gets in suburban Birmingham. Never seen $4 a gallon in my life, but did see $3.99 the other day.

Before today, I saw $4 in 2005 when the price first spiked. A gas station down the road from my apartment was one of the first stations to hit the $4 mark that summer in Lexington, but they were also the first to lower their prices once everything leveled off.

$3.64 and holding for the past 10 days 25 miles south of here. But $3.79 up here. It's almost difficult to remember that it was as low as $2.87 at Christmas.

And prices still rise as U.S. consumption continues to drop, and even as we produce more domestically and now have Canada as our largest import source.

Saw $3.70 at one place in central Mississippi this evening, and across the street it was $3.79 -- 13 cents more than this morning. Considering the $3.79 place is usually the least expensive station on the block, that doesn't bode well for tomorrow.

Nah, no sustained run-up speculation . . . nothing to see, here.

    Thank you, Officer Barbrady.

Another month or so to go for this knife, twisting in the consumer's back . . .
