Taxes. CT takes more in taxes than the federal gov't and most other states. We also have anachronistic thing called zone pricing, meaning you could pay a lot more even if the station is around the block.

Diesel goes up a nickel a gallon July 1st. That hurts the trucking industry and drives up the price of goods.

    Fairfield County can afford it.

Gas is down to $2.919 in parts of Upstate South Carolina. It is very good, yes, but I won't do any celebratory dance until it gets back down to about $2.50 at the very least.

I'd be happy with prices under $3 at this point.

Well, gas was going down and we had one station at $3.16 for most of the week but the others were holding steady at $3.28.

Then yesterday, the $3.16 station went up to $3.24 and one of the $3.28 stations went up to $3.39. I'm guessing the stations are preparing for for Fourth of July price gouging and we'll be around $3.70 in two weeks. (In Kansas, that's high.)

Gas around these parts is hovering in the 3.20-3.30 range, except at one station -- which typically marks up the price 15-20 cents higher. I've never understood why. The station is on a street with three or four others spread out around it, but it's always higher no matter what. I guess it's because they're aren't affiliated with any brand.

Gas in the town I work was in a gas war for a while. Now they're stuck at around $3.23 while the town where I live went to $3.09 this weekend. Guess they're making up profits.

In Orlando over the weekend, saw the Shell convenience store that actually charges 5.89 a gallon. In a tourist area, yes, but not near the airport and not at an exit.

$2.98/gallon just south of I-10 in Mississippi. Awwww, yeah!

$3.25 by my hotel. There wasn't any station within a couple of miles of this one. No cars there at the time, by the way.
