How much did you pay for gas today?

I paid 3.43 in Georgia. Price on post is usually 10 or more cents cheaper than off.

If they are overcharging, start up your own gas station and undercut all those price fixers. You'll be rich in no time if they are truly overcharging.

I don't want to come off as a "the market is the best way to decide everything" person, but there really is an internal logic to it that is consistent.

It went from $3.60 to $3.80 in Minot last week.

    I have no idea why.

    Yes. That's a completely realistic option. ::)

Maybe not for you. There's a lot of shrewd business people out there. They like making more money. If they could undercut gas stations and make money off it, they would.

    Why haven't they?

Look at who is in office and who runs the oil companies.

In both the 2006 and 2008 election run-ups, the price dropped like they cut the cord. (Didn't do much good either time.)

What is the price doing in the 2012 election run-up?

that thought has crossed my mind more than once.

I spent $500 for an alternator Friday. Today (Monday), I'm spending 250 for a water pump belt. All for the privilege of spending $3.79 per gallon. Talk about taking it without any grease.

Price of corn driving up the price of ethanol. Also the Koch Brothers greasing the skids.

I thought the price dropped because Bush destroyed the economy. That's what we heard in 2008.

You guys need to get your stories straight.

    On sec
On second thought, I agree with Bubbler. I'm even inclined to think the oil companies basically set the price of gas. But we need to be careful. This could easily morph into a political thread.

    And I paid $3.67 today.

I'm still at $3.49 here on post, but it's been creeping up here like it is everywhere else.
