Last chance to gouge the consumer. Oil dropped by nearly $3 yesterday to about $88, and it should be time for the annual drop in price due to the changeover from the summer blends. Of course, the falla drop won't match the bump in price from spring because of the change to summer blend.

UPDATE!! Went to Costco to gas up for my trip tomorrow and the gas area was blocked off with signs saying Costcos are not receiving gas deliveries. None of them.
So I went to a Shell in the same shopping area, the posted price for regular was $4.56. But when I got to the pump, the price on it was $4.29. Somebody screwed up.

Somebody in California is making a killing. Cost of production, distribution and labor hasn't risen at all in the past month and the cost at the pump has risen by about $1 a gallon, if not more in some places. Whatever the traffic will bear, baby!

Just got back from a weekend trip to Phoenix. Paid $4.89 on Friday at a one-station (Chevron) town between Indio and Blythe. Prices dropped a dollar when I crossed the border into Arizona. Filled up in Scottsdale ($3.69) to drive home, then topped off at the last city in Arizona, Quartzsite (?) for $3.72.

$3.90 in ND. Down a dime after the Scandinavian festival that brought in about eight million RVs.

Got gas at a Valero on Friday for $3.34. Yesterday the same place was up to $3.46.

At the same time NYMEX crude dropped below $90 per barrel.

It's so easy to game the system at the refinery level that it would be laughable ... if we all drove hybrids.
