We are all the oil companies' bitches. And remember, they still have the spring fuel mix conversion card.
There's a special place in hell for Big Oil and speculators.

On Thursday night, I came home from work and saw the Chevron at 3.45. so I filled the tank at the Marathon a block away at 3.35. By Friday morning, the Marathon was 3.45, Saturday at 3.53 and Sunday headed to church at 3.63. For those doing the math at home, that's a penny hike about every two hours.

I'm sure the EV folks who are constantly begging for government money are loving this.

It's rising so fast, stations can't keep up. It's $3.69 already at the QuikTrip, which is always the first around here to make a move. It's still $3.49 at a Mobil about 12 miles up the highway.

By the way, do you call them "filling stations" or "service stations"? The isogloss runs right through my boyhood home. (There's a linguistic term long-forgotten from college that makes its SJ debut.)

    Gas stations.

And it's $3.70 a gallon here, which doesn't bode well for my little road trip on Friday.

Was as low as $3.05 a couple of months ago and now I'm seeing it at $3.79. Reasons reported on the news are refinery maintenance issues near Chicago and/or the changeover to summer blend. Fuck the EPA.

Can I guess the 'summer blend' is supposed to be more environmentally friendly?

I'm not sure. I think the summer blend is more environmentally friendly because I get more MPG with it. The winter blend usually costs me about 20 miles per tank (my average fill-up is about 12-13 gallons). It's been so long that I don't remember which (summer or winter blend) was the good, ole' regular before the EPA decided it had to fuck things up.
