Don't get me wrong, my car smells worse than one of boots' girls right now, but I figure I can put up with it for a few days.

What I find funny is that everyone will make this huge deal over a 20 cent-per-gallon drop in prices. I have a 20-gallon tank, but I usually fill up at 17-18 gallons worth. That 20-cent drop equates to roughly a $3.50-per-fill-up savings. I'm not going to say no to it, but I'm not going to get wood over it either. I saved more money buying buy one, get one free Twinkees and Ding-Dongs at Kroger this week.

I filled up the tank four times in the past week.

Man, for once I'm happy to be doing a preps-and-recs weekly job. I gas up once every 7-10 days, and my Jeep Grand Cherokee isn't what you would call "not a fuck you" to the environment.

I paid $1.93 yesterday. It had gotten below $2 a few weeks ago but I had a full tank at the time. Then it went back up before coming down quickly over the last 2 weeks.

Lowest I've seen in Houston, TX is $1.81, as of 1/22/07. And I've seen several stations at that price.

Lowest I've seen so far is $1.86 at a Circle K.

    Enjoy it until March, folks.

$2.43, what POs me is that gas goes up at the speculation of an oil shortage (Katrina) or immediately after OPEC raises prices.
But when oil comes down, prices only drop a couple of cents, because "spring is almost here and demand will increase."
I almost want to believe those conspiracy theorists.

Refineries shut down to get ready for the transition to the summer blend, which itself is more expensive to produce. Though if oil prices stay in the 50-55 range, maybe the spike through the driving season won't be as dramatic as it was the last two years.
