I spoke to soon; $2.97 tonight. Up $.08 since last Friday morning, and $.64 since election day.

The last thing I read said prices were dropping. What I don't understand is how the price falls 20 cents when oil falls $2 but then increases by 30 cents when the price increases by $2.

I'm sure I'll be proven wrong on this, but it sure seems that the prices fluctuate in that manner.

    This just in:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Drivers may find gasoline a little cheaper this summer compared to last, despite a 64-cent-a-gallon jump since January.
The Energy Department said Tuesday that the recent sharp rise in gasoline costs is likely to slow in the coming weeks with prices averaging $2.81 a gallon over the vacation driving season, about 3 cents lower than last spring and summer.
But the Energy Information Administration forecast is anything but assured.
Only a month ago, the agency said it believed the cost of regular-grade gasoline would peak in June, averaging $2.67 for the month, a price already eclipsed last week.
The latest forecast calls for prices to peak with an average $2.87 a gallon for the month of May, then decline. Last summer’s peak was an average of $2.98 for the month of July.

It's held steady at $2.79 here in RSN for the past couple weeks. Still, nothing to smile about. :(

$2.79 here at some places, $2.59 at others. I'm hopelessly confused.

The Energy Department, of course, is run by the Bush Administration. ;) ;)

All is well. Remain calm!!

The war fiasco certainly has a HUGE amount to do with it, but it certainly cannot have escaped the notice of the sharper thinkers (LOL) among the Bush toadies that Shrubbya's public approval rating went from 60 to 35 percent during the year that gas prices shot up to $3.00 a gallon and beyond.

The whole country knows Bush and Cheney are attached mouth to groin to the oil industry, so they get to reap the public anger at getting repeatedly fucked over for oil company profiteering.

  10. So when the price went down below $2.00, Bush should have received massive credit. After all, he's receiving massive blame when the price goes up.

Yeah, makes sense both ways. ???

I don't give a fuck if it goes back down where it was when Bush took office, the extra money I had to spend on it last year (and again now this year) is gone forever.

As are the people killed in the waste-of-time war that Bush can't win.

OK, I was close. That station stayed the same; but the Exxon station that was 2.61 1/2 mile away at 2 p.m. was 2.71 at 5:15.
