Prices are slipping here a touch. So far I've managed to avoid paying >$3/gal, though I did put in a few gallons at $2.99 a couple of weeks ago.

If it gets much more expensive, it'll be cheaper to run the car on Chick-Fil-A sweet tea. But I'm not about to waste sweet tea on my granddad's 87 Crown Vic.

I thought you were in the southeast and I also thought that NJ was the only state in the country with gas under $3 gallon. :)

I have solved this problem with fuel prices. I have directed my wife to fill up as soon as the tank is half empty. She asks no questions, and I never have to pump the stuff.

So I just don't even look at the signs when I pass the stations and pretend that I have a magic gas tank. I piss away enough money that it's fairly easy to assume it went toward fast food, highway tolls or industrial-strength heroin for that guy who holds the cardboard sign at my exit.

  8. Yeah, but when's the last time you or someone you know paid less than $4 or $5 for cigarettes? In SC we're paying less than $3 for gas and a few pennies more for cigs ... though a cig tax is on the way.

As a non-smoker with no friends who smoke, I don't pay attention to cig prices.
