on my last move, i paid four very large high school football players $10 an hour to load my truck. i think i was out $120 and pizza after the truck was 95 percent loaded. when i arrived here, i paid three very weenie high school wrestlers $10 an hour to unload the truck. i was out $90 and briscuit sandwiches. to be honest, the weenie wrestlers did a much, much better job and didn't break anything.

oh yeah, i also was reimbursed for the money and the chow i fed the guys.

I just moved my family about 10 miles. Cost $1200 and we tipped each worker (4) $40 for the eight hours. Oh, and after we got to the new house, before unpacking, I bought them lunch. They were definitely careful and did not break anything.

    My bad,

Anybody have a good/bad experience with PODs?

Also, why do I keep smoking these damn cigarettes?

So I'm going to tip more for half the time worked and probably 1/3 of the stuff being moved?

    Sheesh.

Must be a cultural thing but why would you tip a mover?

Last time I moved it took two guys, a full size moving van and all day from about 8:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m. to move about a kilometre.

Used a nationally known mover and was quoted $1600.00--which is what I wrote the cheque for.

Maybe some other Canucks with moving experience could chime in.

I'd never dream of tipping a mover.

i think it's more of a "bribe to keep your stuff from getting broken" thing.

That's why I'd never hire "two guys with a truck".

Movers, like paint and toilet paper is something you should never cheap out on.

I was wondering the same thing JR was wondering.
Don't movers get full hourly wages? Are you expected to tip?
I've never used movers. I've always done it myself with the help of friends.
But I don't own much, and nothing nice.
