Am I the only one bothered that somebody who would consider being in newspapers a sideline is still working, regularly, in this business when many of us are not, anymore?

It really bugs me to hear this.

It's the Herald M.O. At least columnists are full-time talk show hosts who do writing as a second gig. Publisher thinks it sells papers. The statistics argue with him.

P.S. Missing word in above post. It is "three." Howie, Gerry Callahan, and Margery Eagan all have full-time talk gigs.

Here's his latest column about the Globe:

Fuck him and the working class pieces of shit who are his fans.

What, exactly, is a "working-class piece of shit," sp?

Listen to a few of the callers on his show and you'll get the idea.

Howie takes another shot at the Globe.

He went to Deerfield Academy and he's saying the Globe employees are silver spooners?

It was such a joy to see Elizabeth Warren win and take this fat thug-sympathizing fake populist to the woodshed, yet again. God, he and the Herald are so, so perfect for each other. Comforting life-losers who don't understand that the world's changing, and they had better get with it. Write another love letter to Whitey, clown.

He went to Deerfield because his dad worked there. He wasn't a teacher, either.

So he really was working class?

Yes. His dad was a manual laborer. He did custodial work at a variety of places, including a ritzy hotel in the Miami area. Howie has an odd perspective on rich people, growing up the way he did and now being very wealthy himself.

And I suppose nobody ever handed him anything, right?
