We might have to start a poll. I bet most folks go with 'hollow' pronunciation.

Halloween is awesome! It's the one day of the year that I don't get weird looks when I'm rocking the corpse paint.

And as an antidote to the Halloween Haters here, a heartwarming story (seriously) in today' Star:

    http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/272175

Over the past dozen years, Carl and Lila Orbach, a pair of outgoing 77-year-olds, have devoted themselves to the art of decorating their front yard with the macabre. As many as 65 homemade mannequins at a time, all in full costume, have been hung from trees and the second floor of their home on Briar Hill Ave., near Avenue Rd.

They go to Italy to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversar and he gets hit by a cab. She falls and breaks her arm.

Neighbours jump in and do all the decorations.

    Nice or what.

One year they had an Osama bin Laden mannequin running away from superheroes.

Maybe Halloween is just getting you prepared for Thanksgiving, 21.

There's a house in Nobleton that goes all out on Hallowe'en and Christmas. Can see the place from miles around.

Halloween has the strange distinction of being the #2 retail holiday (behind Christmas). I don't get it, but I know in my friend's neighborhood, which is full of kids, the exterior decorations are worthy of an Academy Award. I grew up in a no-kid neighborhood and we were not allowed to go to any houses in which we didn't know the owners. Consequently, our parents drove us from house to house on Halloween visiting their friends and we got our candy.

There's no kids in my neighborhood so I'm spared the distribution of candy this evening. Hopefully there will be some good scary movies on tonight.

We haven't had one trick-or-treater in the five years we've lived in this house. Of course there are only six houses on our road and we live way out in the country.

I think the fact it's such a long walk between houses and you could also be eaten by a pack of coyotes keeps the kiddies away.

Did you ever consider that hundreds of kids may have tried getting to your house, and were eaten by coyotes instead?

Hadn't thought about that. I'll have to turn down the TV tonight and listen for screams.

Wow, Dirk...(At least)*Two* SportsJournalists.commers with Halloween birthdays (I'm the other one). Happy birthday!

I do not have any problems with Halloween (sort of obvious why), and seeing adults in costume for one day doesn't bother me.

But hopefully someone will play Scrooge and start a Dislike Of The Holidays thread. I can't be alone in that. In fact I am sure I am not.
