And the ever increasing forecast snow total has begun. Monday afternoon it was 5 to 8 inches. Monday night 6 to 10 inches... Now they can't even give an accurate prediction of the storm total and are speaking in generalities (1 to 3 this afternoon, 3 to 5 until midnight and 2 to 4 on Wednesday).

NYC public schools will be closed tomorrow... a decision made and announced before a flake has fallen.

Back in my day, we took public buses and subways through blizzards! ::) Seriously, I can probably count on one hand the number of times schools were closed when I was a kid. If the city bus wasn't running, I got in the car and my mom took me to the elementary school where she taught.

Welcome to Alabama, where that happens quite frequently -- for rain and wind.

Not all that surprising PD considering they have X number of snow days built into the school year schedule and haven't used any yet this year.

And, as you well know, almost every high school event scheduled for last Saturday in North Jersey was postponed on Friday because of the impending storm .. and there was not a single snow flake in North Jersey on Saturday.

And it looks like this one is not going to miss us. At least 6-10 inches by tomorrrow afternoon, maybe as much as 14.

Canceled my Charlottesville-Washington trip for the weekend. Princess Cranberry had visits scheduled at University of Virginia, Georgetown and George Washington. Better to see the Virginia campus when it's nice out, anyway.

DC schools (and everywhere else) are closed tomorrow. And Metro's only running in the below-ground stations again. This SUCKS.

    Where'd you hear that?

Edit: Metro site says they may limit service this evening and tomorrow. Not official yet, but it will be soon enough.

Edit2: It's official now. Also, Feds off again tomorrow. May just shut down the rest of the week.
