It seems rather poetic, wouldn't you say, that the northeast, America's "think tank," is getting pounded with unprecedented amounts of snow....hope the global "warmicists" enjoy every minute of it.

Paid time off. Also, I'd be shocked if the Feds were closed tomorrow. I'm betting on them being open.

If lots of snow in February means global warming is fake, does that mean that when it gets really hot in July, global warming is real? Logic says it does.

I wouldn't be surprised. Costs a lot to heat those buildings up for one work day.

This will be an interesting call for the Feds, seeing as how half the govt is off every Friday anyway. Nothing -- absolutely NOTHING -- gets done on Fridays. And next week, everyone has off Monday and half have off Friday, which makes for a nice three-day work week.

OPM boss dropped a hint in today's chat on WaPo.com, saying if they WERE to open, it would be with unscheduled leave. That's the bet.

so the address in Seattle you gave me to come down and fight you was fictitious? I'm shocked.

And just to clarify for printdust... the Northeast did not get hammered. The mid-Atlantic and as far South as Carolinas got hit hard twice. We got nothing last week in NYC Metro and got about a foot yesterday. These are unusual weather patterns, which really is what global warming is all about.
It is now 40 degrees and sunny and everything is melting rapidly. The streets in my small NJ town are absolutely clear of snow because, well, we deal with a foot of snow like it's a minor nuisance ... except for the TV panic mongers who made it sound like the world was about to end yesterday.

Down here in the South we're about to get anywhere from 4 to 8 inches. Ironically, the further south you go the more you'll get with this one.
And 4 to 8 inches here is the equivalent of 2 feet up north. I'm sure people are already lining up at Home Depot for snowblowers.

Actually, there's a consensus in the research that says climate change will result in more extreme weather, including longer-lasting and more frequent droughts, more intense hurricanes, more intense downpours, and more intense and frequent... snowstorms.

The problem is, the changes in ocean surface temperatures change the prevailing weather patterns.

In unrelated news, my 12-year-old's social studies class is watching "An Inconvenient Truth" today and tomorrow.

JC, The address I gave you is real. There would not have been a fight.
Ryan, with Monday being an off day, and with the price of heating up a building for one day only to shut it down for three more, it would be more prudent to keep the workers out another day IMO.

I doubt the cost of heating the building will be taken into consideration. Not when it already costs well over $100 million per day to shut down the Govt.
