I fucking hate this winter. My poor mom had her flight to FL canceled and it looks like she's not getting out for a couple of days. A trip I have coming up is likely to be canceled as well. NO MORE SNOW!

Thanks to snow, my 15 minute commute took me an hour and 20 minutes today. Ridic.

I woke up to big, fluffy flakes which seem so pretty and unthreatening... except the storm isn't supposed to stop until Friday.

Thankfully, I was scheduled to be off today, but there's always schedules to be updated and posted online on days like this. Also, we got totally annihilated on a breaking news story last night -- thankfully about a school which isn't in the coverage area -- but I was assigned the follow up.

I guess the snow day will turn into a work-from-home scenario, and maybe I can be truly off tomorrow instead. Everyone be careful out there!

The good part of this snow storm we're getting clobbered by: I didn't have to wake up early to do any observation, school was cancelled!

The bad part: Can't have lunch with my mom for her birthday (she called to say "Don't come out here"), and I can't do the research in the Historical Society I had slated for today. Bummer!

Snow. What more can you say about the wet white stuff?

We are having our classic early-spring storm here in the Rockies. As predicted.

Today started off sunny and bright. Mid-afternoon, thunderstorms rolled through with nearly a half-inch of rain. Then the sun came out. Then the snow started just dumping on the city. So far, 6 inches in downtown of wet, concrete-like snow. Close to a foot in Boulder and the foothills. Power outages are sporadic, but with the heavy snow weighing on power lines and branches, more expected overnight.

Deicing of planes at DIA and runway closures. Interstates also closed. Lots of stuck cars. Commutes that take less than an hour took 2-3-4 hours tonight. Schools already closing for tomorrow (wimps).

Oh, and it was near 70 and I was in shorts yesterday. And this stuff will be gone by Friday and I'll be back in shorts. The weather is craziest this month in the Rockies.

Yeah, MH. I have a couple of buds headed to Salt Lake City for the Sweet 16 and are stuck in Cheyenne because I-80 is closed. Apparently, they were having a good time because after two hours of being stuck in a motel there, they had created a Facebook group titled, "I HATE WYOMING". Ah, good times.

We had a Front Range-like spring storm last weekend. Friday, it was 70 and I went to a soccer game in shorts. Saturday night and into Sunday, we got 3/4 of a foot of wet snow. By Sunday night the roads were clear and yesterday it was 75. I kid you not.

It's let up here, but trees are snapping with the heavy snow on them. There are trees in my neighborhood that are sagging down to the sidewalks. Got about 8 inches here in downtown. Eldora, 30 minutes west of Boulder, got 2 feet of fresh powder.
