I Miss Brent

Back in the day, Chris Schenkel was everywhere, too.

But I agree: Keith Jackson was the best of the best.

 

Schenkel had a weird career. He was omnipresent at ABC in the late 60's and early 70's and then wound up doing the bowling and nothing else.

 

Schenkel was THE MAN at ABC at Munich in 1972 until the the terrorists invaded the Olympic Village. Then it was Jim McKay's deal.

 

All it took was Harold Reynolds to make us realize what we were missing.

 

Boy you can say that again.

 

Fouts and Brent were tremendous together doing that Bourbon Bowl broadcast.

 

I don't know how good an analyst he was, but I loved listening to Frank Broyles just for his accent.

Hearing him say words like "Bay-luh," "quah-tuh-back" or "sen-yuh" cracked me up.

 

No, I just wish Fox gave us a better replacement for him.

 

I liked hearing him say "Keith that was a sensational catch"

 

I miss Al DeRogatis.

 

I miss Abe Vigoda.
