Jeff Pearlman's "The Bad Guys Won" account of the '86 Mets recalls some great Scully lines, like when it seemed the Red Sox were about to win Game 6. ("It's so quiet, you can hear Boston")

It might be just me, but Fowler seems to have a little more energy and Ummph tonight. I wonder if he reads us?

Vin is sensational. Mid-1980s with Garagiola was must-listen-to TV. 1985 NLCS. 1986 World Series. 1988 NLCS. 1988 World Series.

Seemed like that to me too but it also could have been the amped up LSU crowd.

Meanwhile over on the SEC network Brent proclaimed that his game was SEC
    game of year to date.

Amusing considering how much Big 10 slobbering he used to do.

True that. Part of Brent's charm. He could call the dogsh*t Indiana-Michigan game this weekend and be waxing poetic about the packed Big House and rock-em-sock-em Big Ten football.

Brent loved "The Big Kat" when he did big ten football

When I started watching college football in the early '80s, CBS was the top dog, and the Big 10 showcase games (Michigan/Illinois in '83, Michigan/Iowa in '85, as examples) were the "must-see" telecasts.

Funny but I've always viewed ABC as the top dog of college football.
