I thought they would have had a better career...

There was a girl I used to pine for in college who wound up working for some talent agency and found herself in an elevator with Mayer. Supposedly, he whipped out his dick and said "Isn't this lovely?"

Was it? Ya had to ask her that, right?

I'm going to a party tonight with people who know him well, and this story will be told on a running loop. I thank you

I did not hear it firsthand, so I have no insight on the true loveliness.

Terrific blues guitarist, he can stand onstage with anybody and hold his own. But the mom rock he does pays a whole lot better.

Well, in my retelling your friend replies, "Lovely? Seen one two-inch dick, seen 'em all."

    I endorse this.

Fun, if irrelevant, detail: the woman in question's last name? Dick.

Mayer's "Room For Squares" album was phenomenal. If you're in your mid-20s and those songs don't connect with the driftlessness and fear you often feel at that age, you're in a much better place than most people.
Not as familiar with his more recent stuff, but he does seem to have turned into whatever the 30-something version is of the douchebag who played guitar in the quad to make women swoon.

    My paternal grandmother's maiden name.

Also my dad's middle name. His high Scholl must have thought he was an idiot, because they changed it to Richard on his high school diploma.

Apparently he can hold his own in an elevator as well.

Yeah, he's musician, but he's not Jeter in the looks and class department - so it's got to be something else.

Would she have had a much better career otherwise?

I'm trying to think of something she did that would qualify for a career to fizzle. A few decent arcs on a few decent shows - other than that... what was her "peak."

At least she didn't blame it on being politically outspoken and all the suits in Hollywood were afraid to cast her. I always love when a celebrity does that (from either side of the spectrum).
