I think a lot of people are wondering why the blogger's initial stories weren't followed up.

The Statesman tried, but apparently never could confirm it.

The blogger's missive was a lynching ... offered nothing. Craig being gay is only a story if hypocrisy in D.C. is suddenly newsworthy. Craig trolling for anonymous sex in airports and getting pinched ... now that's a story. That it was missed for so long says more about the Minneapolis press than anything else ... or the relative anonymity of Idaho's senior senator. You'd think the cops reporter at the Star Tribune or Pioneer Press would have been wired in enough to have a source say, "hey, if you want to break a big national story ... we just clipped a senator looking for blowjobs in the airport john ..."

Am I reading right, and he entered his plea in Minnesota on the day of the bridge crash?

Was that on purpose (as in, opposite of fucking up on a slow news day)?

If so, that's as cynical as you can get.

OK, I'll set the over-under on his resignation at 10 days.

He blames his ignorance, not getting a lawyer, his hopes of making this all go away and of course the media in the form of the Idaho Statesman...
I did like the way he wore an everyman checked shirt at his presser...

As far as hypocrisy goes, you mean like Bill Clinton pretending to be the happily married man, and consorting with fat chicks in the Oval Office?

HE GOT A BLOWJOB IN THE OVAL OFFICE!

It was only a matter of time before one of the wingnuts brought that club out of his bag. ::)

If Clinton had done all this while trying to pass anti-adultery or anti-blowjob legislation, you'd have a leg to stand on, hondo. But since he didn't please to be shutting the fuck up.

IVA REGRETFULLY CALLS FOR SENATOR CRAIG’S RESIGNATION IF ACCUSATIONS ARE TRUE
    ...
It strains credulity to think that the senator can provide an explanation for his guilty plea if he did nothing more than accidentally brush someone’s foot with his shoe and pick up a piece of paper off the floor.

The Judeo-Christian tradition says that the standard for identifying the truth is that “by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact is confirmed.” The senator’s guilty plea, when added to the officer’s testimony, satisfies the biblical standard for confirming the essential truth of what happened, and unless the senator can provide a compelling and convincing explanation for his plea, we will need to regretfully accept that the fact of his behavior has been established. It seems unlikely that he can “unring the bell” his guilty plea has sounded.

If the senator did indeed engage in the behavior to which he pled guilty, then the appropriate thing for him to do is to resign from office. Character is an essential qualification for public service, and the essence of character is what you do when you do not think anyone is looking.

The worst part is that this gay homophobe didn't flush!

After Craig ran his hand underneath the partition wall three times, Karsnia held his police identification down by the floor so the senator could see it, the report said.

"With my left hand near the floor, I pointed towards the exit. Craig responded, 'No!'

"I again pointed towards the exit. Craig exited the stall with his roller bags without flushing the toilet," Karsnia wrote.
