Ha. Fair enough. I recently watched the Seinfeld episode where the dry cleaner gives Jerry 25 percent off all future dry cleaning, so I think that's where my head is.

I had a dry cleaner lose a jacket years ago. He was as good as he could be about it, under the circumstances, and I really appreciated his honesty. At the time, I had to be in a button down office every day wearing a suit for a project I was working on -- that probably lasted half a year on and off. So I guess he figured I was a reliable client with major dry cleaning needs based on my pattern at that moment. We went through how much the suit jacket was worth, and I agreed to let him reimburse me with dry cleaning services. The problem for him was that nomally, I am not in a suit most days, and my dry cleaning needs are very limited in more normal times. So I had some obscene amount of dry cleaning credit that me and the Mrs. (who does more dry cleaning than I do) took a VERY long time to work our way through. I think it kind of pissed off the guy. He thought I'd blow though the credit in a few months and move on. Instead, on the rare occasions I needed a suit cleaned, I'd bring it in, pick it up for free, and still have plenty of credit left for the next time. And it went on for a long time. I think we finally blew through what was left when Ms. Ragu went in with a huge stack of clothing and took out what was left of the credit. I was starting to feel guilty about it.

She's the Courtney Cox in that scenario, copping your dry-cleaning gig and ruining it!

I had that happen on a trip to Florida a decade or so ago. I used my bank credit card up until the last day, then it kept being rejected. I called my bank when I got home and, unbeknownst to me, they put a block on it because they were concerned a thief was using it in Florida. Which wouldn't have done much good, since the "thief"'would have already blown through a bunch of money on the first five days of my trip.

The last couple of trips, I've called my bank beforehand and told them where I was going, so they've wouldn't block it.

A friend of mine has to call his bank anytime he leaves the state or else his card will get declined.
