Blake is a not a singer. He is, at best, a novelty act. The Michael Winslow comparison someone alluded to early was accurate.

  2. If he's not a singer, then how did he make it this long when he doesn't beatbox in the majority of his songs?
He won't win, but I think he deserves to be where he is.

Let me make one thing clear before people start piling on ... I understand people not liking Blake's performance tonight, or Blake in general. Personally, I enjoyed it.
But, I will take exception to certain people ripping on myself or other people because we DID like it. There's no need for that.

  4. Honestly, who else laughed at the beginning of Melinda's performance when we heard the cowbell?

Still voting for Chris for the final 5 minutes.

This is a pretty good show. We have one in Germany. I was watching this instead of getting focused for Game 5.

Just saw the playback of the show.

Melinda was terrific -- amazing what she can do when I don't hate the song I was singing.

Boy, Jordin was awful. No getting around on it.

Lakisha, as usual, did nothing for me.

Blake may not be a pure singer, but he's a great entertainer.

I say Blake, Melinda and Jordin are the final three.

Chris has gotta go. And I think Lakisha will join him.

Strange week for me. I can't stand Bon Jovi and Jordin is my favorite of the final 6. And whaddaya know, I thought this was a really good week and Jordin was easily the worst one tonight.

This is the first time in weeks I thought Lakisha was pretty good. Phil was solid. Melinda was very good.

Chris was better than I expected, but my expectations for him are very, very low.

I'll say this for Blake -- Lugz is right, it took giant balls to do that. And honestly, he doesn't have the pipes to sing it straight anyway. He's very smart. He can do mid-tempo pop/rock well -- "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane was a great example -- and if he can't sing a song that way, he gets as close as he can and sort of tweaks it to disguise his weaknesses.

I hope Jordin has built up a lot of goodwill, because that was pretty bad.

  9. Remember that it's two weeks of voting put together.
I can't imagine that Jordin gets kicked out for one bad performance, especially considering she probably got plenty of votes after her effort last week.

Clubber, if I could raise the money, I would bribe American Idol so you could be judge for a night. I would pay to see that. Love that you always stay true like that.

As for tonight, Melinda's proven she can learn on the fly, first with country and now with rock. And both times she did songs from the past five years. It would seem that there's less and less room to knock her each week. I thought she was the best tonight ...

    1. Melinda -- Has she missed a note yet this season?
    2. Lakisha -- Found a good song for her style.
    3. Blake -- Sorry, Clubber, but I didn't like the others so much.
    4. Phil -- Good and boring, but hopefully Kansas makes the cut.
    5. Chris -- OK, but not that great.
    6. Jordin -- A mess.

  11. 1. Melinda. She's a skilled performer, no doubt. Never heard that song, and she made it just as good as some of Bon Jovi's classics that spilled all over the stage tonight.

    2. Phil. Can't believe I just put him at 2, but he's got pipes. If I never had to look at him ...

    3. Blake. At least he kept the chorus and the song's hook intact. He went all beatbox on the verses, no harm there. Not much vocal range, he's very Sting. The hair sucked.

    4. Jordin. I know she bobbled it, but I kept stopping myself from hating it and she hit the big notes, albeit with a strange tone.

    5. LaKisha. She saved it at the end.

    6. Chris. The signature karaoke song. They sure make him cuuute, but ehhh, I'm ready for him to go home. If I have to hear about one more story of him being all star-whore in LA, geez. Chris is gone.

And from here on out, that better be the way you answer. Got it?
