I would pay good money to watch Newt debate Obama.

I picked Obama. In no circumstances will I ever vote for a republican. If my own brother ran for office (I think he wants to sometime) as a republican, he wouldn't get my vote.

It'd be awfully awkward for Newt to have to differentiate himself from Obama on health care, when Obama just copied his plan.

I have no clue what this means.

Romney. Because Huntsman has no realistic chance and Perry is the second coming of George W. Bush.

Obama has good intentions, but he can't get anything done with a Republican congress. So the country suffers.

Other than the 9-9-9 "plan", I haven't heard any of the Repubs putting forward anything positive or useful. They constantly note that Obama is terrible and should be replaced.

I could do what they are doing.

Granted, I don't read this board as much as I used to, but is it actually out of step with the American people, or with American politics? Because let's take a look at the key issues right now:

Higher taxes on the rich? Supported by a majority of the American people.
Higher taxes on corporations? Supported by a majority of the American people.
Preserving Social Security benefits? Supported by a majority of the American people.
Preserving Medicare benefits? Supported by a majority of the American people.
Legalizing gay marriage? Supported by a majority of the American people.
The public option? Supported by a majority of the American people.
Health care reform? Other than the mandate (a originally conservative idea), every major piece of Obamacare is supported by a majority of the American people.
Ending the wars? Supported by a majority of the American people.
Repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell? Supported by a majority of the American people.
The DREAM Act? Supported by a majority of the American people.
The American Jobs Act? Supported by a plurality of the American people.

For two years, all of these policies were supported by a majority of the American government too. But because the Senate is broken, hardly any of it got done. The left is often told it's outside the mainstream of American politics. Fact is, though, when you ask about a lot of the policies "the left" is pushing, they usually gain pretty wide support.

Which is why the bumper sticker on my solar-powered scooter reads:

"printdust - out of sync with America"
