Just had Five Guys for the first time this weekend.

    Meh.

The Cajun fries were excellent. The burger was OK and badly overpriced.

    Fatburger blows Five Guys away.

It's official. The first In-N-Out in Texas is going in ... at Firewheel Town Center in Garland.

Wow, so much for the 500 mile rule, unless they're building a new processing facility that would enable them to massively expand in the SW and MW.
Little more than a month til the 5 Guys 20 miles away from me opens, mmmm!
I went to one an hour away last week, God, I could eat there once a week.

    Yes. It's good. It's not In-N-Out, but it's good.

And In-N-Out going to Texas is tragic. Looks like the granddaughter of the founders who is moving into full control of the company is going to go with major expansion.

I gave Red Robin a try last week. Their burgers and fries are very good and the waitstaff were very nice. Was it worth the $15 I paid (including tip)? A little too pricey.

As for In-N-Out, supposedly as many as nine franchises will eventually be built in the Metroplex. That's not very many outlets to replicate an entire logistical system 1,300 miles east for. It's a very risky business move.

I used to eat at the original Red Robin (University District in Seattle) all the time. I love their food.

Hit In N Out over the weekend with my wife.
Her first time, she ranks it third behind Backyard Burgers and Five Guys. She was not impressed at all.
I'd been there before. It's fine, but I'm starting to wonder if this is somewhat the product of hype. Obviously a great value, but the fries have a kind of potato-stick texture and the burger, not enough meat.

I like Red Robin and the fry refills are a nice touch (though saying "more fries please" makes one feel like a bloated idiot), but yeah, it's definitely too pricey.
