What would be the best burger you can get in Chicago?

And they use peanut oil when making their fries.

Whataburger, IIRC, is no better than Sonic, which is good, but not on the level of a Five Guys.

Plus, if you compare Five Guys to a fast food place, that is like comparing a Chipotle to a Taco Bell or a Dell Taco.

Whatever it is, it's not as good as what you can get in New York City.

I think someone should ask an expert...

    Don't start with me!

I already posted a link to answer your question, Mizzou. Kuma's Corner. It's a heavy metal hipster bar on Chicago's north side, but the burgers (and homemade mac 'n' cheese) are unbelievable. One of the burgers was just featured on the Food Network's "Best Things I Ever Ate."

The best burger I ever had was in Philly at one of the steakhouses. It was $35 and fries were extra.

Whose expense account did that go on?

Shit, I can go to any Lonestar or average steakhouse and get a burger that destroys Five Guys, but that's an unfair comparason.

Because the menu really brings the place together?

Sorry if this was mentioned somewhere earlier (I skipped the middle pages of this thread), but Five Guys is apparently opening a location in the Bay Area, so they'll be able to go head-to-head with In-N-Out. I'm going to do a taste test one of these days, eating both at the same sitting.

I've had both, and my opinion is the burgers are both very good, and it was tough to pick one over the other without, as I said, having them side by side.

Five Guys fries were better, but they use peanut oil, which I'm philosophically opposed to since my son is allergic to nuts.

I've become a hamburger whore since the pregnancy cravings kicked in. Agree with YDYDTTM that Kuma's is the best (non fast-food) hamburger joint in existence. However, I just discovered Cookout, which opened in Richmond a few months ago. It's mostly a Carolina chain, but holy shit, the food was great. Drive-thru line was out of control on a Sunday at 4pm. Plus, they offer something like 30+ types of shakes. Anybody else been?
