    They already have.

"Earlier, Feeney and Keller issued statements echoing the arguments the Bush White House has made against the expanded program. Feeney said the measure passed by majorities in both the House and the Senate would provide benefits to "wealthy" families as well as 12.6 million "illegal immigrants," and Keller said the measure is a Democratic plan "for socialized medicine" - claims disputed by Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, the Republican sponsor of the measure in the Senate."

It becomes more and more apparent every day that Republicans have no idea what life is like for the middle class any more. Let's assume for a minute that the mythical $80K figure were true. In another day and age, $80K was a lot of money. Now, in New York, with at least two kids, $80K really isn't that much money.

If anyone on this board said they're glad about the bridge to nowhere I sure missed it. Nice strawman, though.

In short, people making 80K have no business being the poster children for government handouts, I don't care what kind of sob story y'all want to tell.

Knowing your track record, I'll watch and see, but you won't be right. But your ploy was utterly predictable to pull out race when it didn't exist.

Nothing tells you you're more right than Fenian showing up and saying you're wrong.

Notable, however, that he refers to facts as "sewage." But he covers his ass by saying that the house wasn't worth that much when they bought it -- even though no one made such an argument.

Wait a minute, strawmen pretty much began with this relatively arbitrary 80K figure, which is based on nothing more than MCbamr's math.

If you had a clue as to what principles mean, you'd realize that no matter where the money comes from it shouldn't be confiscated from the private sector. You may want to paint cigarette manufacturers as evil, but I could care less. The same politicians who are doing that don't have the guts to outlaw their product. When they get around to that, let me know.

One of my favorite lines from one of the blogs:

"Interesting that public schools aren't good enough for their kids but public health insurance is."

  8. The notion that a bunch of mouthbreathing freepers have decided to stalk this family based on nothing but their desire to shut up opposing opinion makes me wonder exactly into what hell these people really would like to drop this country. Posting their address. Stalking their neighbors. Badgering their bosses. What do you get, a free brown shirt for every five posts? This isn't politics. This is outright thuggery.
And o_t, the thugs in question use the current price of the house as a measure of what these people could have bought back then. I hope to Christ nobody you love ever gets sick and gets tossed on the tender mercies of the free market. God can have mercy on them, because none of these troglodytes will.

    This one's a fun read.

That's what family is for, Fenian. That is not what the government is for.

This summary from Mark Steyn says it all:

"Bad things happen to good people, and they cause financial problems and tough choices. But, if this is the face of the "needy" in America, then no-one is not needy. And, if everyone needs assistance from the federal government, so be it. But I don't think I want to drive down the road where Bonnie Frost wants to take us - because at the end of it there are no free-born citizens, just a nation where everyone is a ward of the state."

I do recognize, however, that everyone being a ward of the state is exactly what you want, Fenian.

That blog...wow. Talk about fucking strawmen!

  12. 1) Graeme has a scholarship to a private school. The school costs $15K a year, but the family only pays $500 a year.
    2) His sister Gemma attends another private school to help her with the brain injuries that occurred due to her accident. The school costs $23,000 a year, but the state pays the entire cost.
    3) They bought their “lavish house” sixteen years ago for $55,000 at a time when the neighborhood was less than safe.
    4) Last year, the Frosts made $45,000 combined. Over the past few years they have made no more than $50,000 combined.
    5) The state of Maryland has found them eligible to participate in the CHIP program.

Wrong, tony. Wrong on history. Wrong on the facts. Unless, of course, you've determined the country doesn;t need a middle class. Which has been the presiding economic paradigm since 2000.

As long as we're linking to blogs, here's a conservative who's not a complete orc.
