I've never seen a movie of his. Not sure I've ever heard Vin Diesel speak.

Given recent events related to actual people leaving the board, your choice of joke, given you're a moderator, seems a little odd.

I get it. I disagree with their views.

In fact, I don't just "disagree" with them, I think their are factually incorrect.

But, there are millions of people across America who hold the exact same views.

And, for a reporter to troll for such a statement, by poking around a "small town" until she found what she was looking for, and then shining a spotlight on this one business/family is not journalism.

They didn't try to insert themselves into this story. And, they were to naive to understand what would happen to them when they simply answered a question.

And, as antiquated as their beliefs are, I don't believe they should be the poster child for intolerance, and be subjected to abuse and death threats as a result.

And, let's be clear, as much as you and I disagree with what they said, it was the overwhelmingly majority opinion not very long ago. It's how these people grew up. The spit on this issue is largely between young and old.

To demonize people for holding a position that was the default position for centuries seems unproductive to me. Views are changing rapidly. As the older generation dies off, the situation will be nearly reversed.

Threatening this family with death and the loss of their business doesn't help anyone. It doesn't change any minds. The fact is, if they got to know some gay people on a human level -- as we've seen with a range of folks including Dick Cheney and others -- they would probably have their eyes opened, and might actually change their views. Attacking them will only do the opposite.

I think we also forget how many homosexuals remained in the closet until recently. So, while this family certainly knew gay people, they didn't know that they knew gay people.

Homosexuals who have come out of the closet showed incredible bravery in many instances, and have contributed to societal change in a huge way.

But, these people likely live in a bubble, and have been largely immune to this. That doesn't necessarily make them bad people.
