My question was straightforward. I was asking simply if you are OK with someone discriminating against a potential customer because of their sexuality. Cutting through what you wrote, "you sure are OK with it." But they have to be "sincere," as you deem sincerity (in the case of what I call bigotry. ... and you called "beliefs").

And no, you are not a good person -- MY opinion (I have the guts to say it) -- if you "disagree" with someone else's choice of who they marry-- because their sexuality is different than yours -- especially if it is to the point that you run a business that discriminates against them. You may not be the worst person in the world. I mean, I suppose there are even bigger jerks out there who do even nastier things than that. But I'll call you for what you are. MY opinion again (see how easy it is to state how you feel about people's actions without dancing around it?). Worry about living your own life the way you want to. Don't be the douche who judges (nonsesically) and demonizes others -- calling it your "beliefs" doesn't change that you are a jerk.

By the way, this is nonsensical framing -- or dancing around -- of what we're talking about.

How is refusing to provide a service to a gay wedding that you would provide to a heterosexual wedding NOT discriminating against gay couples?

There is nothing misleading about what I've asked you. Do you feel it is OK for people to discriminate against gay couples? Your answer was seemingly yes. Or do I have it wrong? (Cue the dancing bear act)

I'm more offended by the War on Mushrooms in this thread than anything else.

Charging more for wedding cakes than regular cakes is discrimination. I'm disgusted by the woman behind the counter. I can't imagine how badly she comes across to Ragu.

If she discriminates against gays (treats them poorly because of their sexuality). ... she comes across as a bigot and an asshole to me. How about to you, Doc?

Apparently, starting a farewell thread as a joke and realizing no one gives a shit if you stick around isn't the best for one's mood.

    Yes, it's about me.

Not the fact that you don't seem to have the guts to just say that you're cool with people who discriminate against others because of their sexuality.

Jim O'Daniels plays the piano and organ part-time (most every Sunday and the occasional Saturday-night wedding) in his small Catholic parish. On occasion, he takes free-lance wedding gigs. If he's asked to play in a same-sex wedding (that will be held off-premises) and refuses, what is an appropriate financial penalty for his being such a bigot and asshole?
