  2. No resume tossing. Been around guys from Herald-Leader and C-J and other than Rick Bozich at C-J, most come off as know-it-alls. Just a view from outside the lines. Herald-Leader is better paper no matter how you slice it ;)

Over the years, I've met tons of guys from the C-J and have yet to meet one I'd even think for a nanosecond was a prick, know it all or anything negative. In fact, most have been among the better people I've met.

The Lexington paper may be the same way. May be the C-J's equal or even better. Don't know because I don't see it near as often.

But I suspect, from the tone of your posts, that the C-J people may be reacting to you.

    That's how it's done, kids.

  5. Geez. Who pissed in your Cheerios? I never had a problem with any of the C-J writers. Guys like Brewer, Bennett and Smith are down to earth.

  6. Hate Cheerios. Maybe I didn't get to know C-J guys as well as I did with H-L guys as far as hanging out on the road in such exciting places like Oxford and Starkville, Miss. Hard to imagine a guy like Forde is considered "down to earth.''
    No hard feelings.

    Forde? Are you serious?
This reinforces my belief that the problem is you. I've never heard anyone utter a negative word about Pat Forde. One of the best in the business and one of the best guys in the business.
If you can't get along with Pat, or see even one piece of negative anything in him, you must be a serious piece of work.

  8. Since you're a Nats fan, you obviously have the problem! Go Livan!

    I have two problems:

    *Bad baseball teams.
    *Dickheads.

You fall into one of the categories.

Met Pat Forde at the Big 12 Championship game and he's one of the nicest and coolest guys in the business. Someone on this board is a bit bitter.

I've never met him, but I can vouch for Forde. He did a story on Mike Davis when he was still at Indiana a couple years back. Davis is good friends with Western Illinois' coach Derek Thomas, and I was headed to Bloomington to do a story on it before the teams played. I e-mailed Forde, on the off chance I'd get a response, and he sent me a detailed message back explaining how to approach Davis. We kept in touch a little bit after that while I was still in college. For someone as busy as him, it was a great gesture to keep in touch with a student journalist from tiny Western Illinois looking for a little help. I'd say he's a nice guy based off of that.
