College jobs are rarely filled before July because they don't want you to start during the dead period or downtime... Depending on what, if any football duties this job has, it will likely be filled by Aug. 1

They've contacted the people they want to bring in, and they're trying to move fast.

Mizzou, to nobody's surprise, is correct. The targeted start date is around August 1st, so as to get a start on the football (columnist) and men's soccer (beat writer) aspects of the job.

I'll trust your info Lion, but after two months (see: the start date on this thread) I'm not sure the adjective "fast" can be applied anymore.

word is they still (third month and counting) haven't ruled out most, if not all, of the handful who were granted phone interviews. anyone know differently? have to think with two weeks' notice and move time, they'll have their man by early next week ...

Apparently this job has been filled. Still waiting for details and confirmation.

  7. My sources say it's a Penn Stater that's getting this one...

Which makes the "Lion" handle pretty auspicious...haha.

Didn't an Indiana grad cover Penn State for a while?

Good luck to whoever gets this. Should be fun.

Yes and now she covers Maryland for the Baltimore Sun.

She used to cover PSU but she didn't go to PSU. She actually went to Indiana.

I don't see why anyone would leave the Baltimore Sun for a small paper in Indiana. Just me.

He or she, is this person moving there from the Sun? Can anyone confirm anything more?
