Yeah, I've seen that, but that's typically much larger papers and road games, isn't it? Did you ever hire a stringer who didn't have gamer experience to do sidebar/color?

Maybe it only seems backward from the small paper perspective - you know, where you're putting out ads for stringers to help with Friday night football coverage and more or less throwing some newbies to the wolves...
