Love it. Chris L has Shaughnessy back in his sights.

Only seems like yesterday when this issue first came up.

Yep. I'm a Royals fanboi, but their offense was in the top half of the AL this year and is VERY young, with more talent on the way. If they get some arms, they could be a playoff team soon.

Also, Michael Schur, creator of "Parks and Recreation" and the dearly departed FireJoeMorgan blog, has a hilarious takedown of the story on Grantland, featuring the best, most profane footnotes the site has run to date.

I do want to mention that Double Down is outed in Shaughnessy's story. :)

  6. Dan Shaughnessy believes that child pornographers should be tried as adults.

I don't know why, but that made me laugh really hard.

The more I think about this, the more fucking angry it makes me. What kind of coward says the shit about Francona's:

    1. Kid in Afghanistan
    2. Crumbling Marriage
    3. alleged pain pill addiction

It seriously makes me want to take a break from rooting for them. I honestly don't know if I can get behind a team owned by people who are this cowardly.

To be accurate "Kid in Afghanistan" was last on list in priorities of distraction.

He writes, The fact that Josh Beckett ate hot wings and played Call of Duty 4 in the clubhouse couldn't matter less to me,

Really? I just don't see how, if other players are busting their ass, playing injured, etc, seeing Beckett, Lackey and Lester eating chicken and playing video games wouldn't piss people off.

I think on the list of things to be pissed off about as a Red Sox fan, the ChickenGate stuff is pretty trivial compared to the character assassination stuff. Beckett is a gigantic dick, but to have a person in ownership who is essentially willing to slander someone on their way out simply for PR reasons suggests the whole thing is rotting from the inside, not just certain elements. Eventually Beckett and Lackey won't be around any longer. The people who trashed Tito and Theo almost certainly will remain and continue to make decisions. You can't cleanse that. There is the difference. Every team in baseball has entitled pricks. Not every team has owners who lack back standards of class and dignity.

It's pitchers on their off-day. I would like to think after several years in the minors, and however many years in the majors, that the rest of the players would know by now that pitchers on their off-day don't spend the entire nine innings on the bench.
