Internal Polling Suggests Hastert Could Devastate GOP

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Deeper_Background, Oct 6, 2006.

  1. Oh, and Rep. Reynolds? A real profile in courage, this guy:
    (From AP today)
"Rep. Thomas Reynolds, who heads the House Republicans' re-election effort, would have been the chamber's top GOP official on the Sunday talk shows. Booked weeks ago for ABC's "This Week," he confirmed his appearance on Wednesday. By Saturday, his office canceled without explanation and arranged for a substitute guest, Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Fla., a network spokeswoman said. A Reynolds spokesman said the New York congressman had flu-like symptoms."

To borrow a line from a local columnist, his flu-like symptoms means the voters are sick of him.

  2. Keep overplaying your hand, libs. That's one thing you do very, very well.

  3. We also get all the hot women and laugh at you behind your back.

  4. Even with all this, the House projection looks good for the GOP. And I'll take a 50-50 Senate at this point:

  5. Haven't seen my GF, have you? (Well, I hope you haven't, at least.)

    Except he added wrong.

  8. Fenian - are you equating a never heard of before congressman with the President of the United States?

Are you saying that if Foley is investigated for two years then their punishment will be equal?

It is hard to understand what you mean since you keep moving goalposts all over the field.

I mean you call Michael Barone a hack but then you brag about treading his political almanac as soon as it comes out. Make up your mind will you. If he is a hack - why do you go out of your way to read him? Why the need for the two orders Col. Jessup?

And BTW - you couldn't carry Michael Yon's jockstrap. He's the type of man you are afraid of being.

I won't speak for F_B, but I took him to mean that it would be nice if the Republicans had half the interest in one of their own diddling underage pages as they did in Clinton doing the same to a legal-age intern.

    Just half.

They show half the concern and I'll not be so thoroughly convinced that this Republican leadership clan is the slimiest group in the history of this country.

  12. Gee, if I quote my favorite movies, it means I don't have to, like, make an argument or anything.
    Reading comprehension, again.
As I made clear, the Almanac remains a valuable compendium of electoral DATA. It's commentaries are warped to the right and have been since Barone slid in that direction. I read it for the freaking NUMBERS, which are played straight. In an act of bipartisan amity, I am willing to admit that Barone and his staff are first-rate compilers. His columns, though, are run-of-the-mill hackery.
I didn't "equate" -- again, I don't think this word means what you think it means. See? I can quote movies, too -- Foley and Clinton. Someone else brought up Clinton. I merely pointed out similarities in the situations, and one big difference. And I merely said that if we have a two-year investigation of Foley, then I'll be happy, which was made in a reasonably facetious way.
As to Michael Yon, and your stalwart, manly support of him, well, go with God.
