Is RG3 done?

Interestingly, since his name came up on this thread, Wilson leads all qualified players in YPC this season at 7.7. Fairly impressive.

As a fanboi, I would not mind seeing Griffin fail this week.

Whatever his shortcomings, I think he should be given tons of credit for putting himself on the line during that playoff game against the Seahawks, basically ruining his knee in an attempt to win. He was a world-class hurdler and a Heisman-winning QB before the injury, now, he's just a guy.

What he was tremendous at his rookie year was the play-action, which IIRC accounted for nearly 70% of his passing yardage that year. Now, with no running game, he's exposed. Is that his fault? Probably, but I believe he's entitled to some slack too for what he sacrificed.

I'm happy to give him slack. It still doesn't excuse stupid, basic shit like taking a proper drop. You truly cannot succeed in the NFL as an offense if your quarterback can't do that.

Especially when you watch him on a 2nd or 3rd and long. Play breaks down, Wilson takes off down the sideline, pick up 12 yards in a hurry and steps out of bounds. He doesn't take long Kaepernick strides but he's sneaky fast.

Amraeder, I'm talking about the win streak to close out '12.
(Two of the wins were over the 4-12 Eagles and two over Dallas.)
He also tore up a Saints defense that gave up the most yards in LEAGUE history.

Even though the Seahawks are struggling and I'm a Niner fan, I'm fascinated by Wilson, he just seems to make big plays with his movement without looking hurried; he's got that pocket presence that I'm dearly hoping that Kaepernick develops.

The Seahawks were in trouble to the Redskins earlier this year IIRC, and Wilson evaded two sacks and made two huge throws which were amazing, he ran forward, then backwards to get the pass off.

I'm not so sure about that. I think writing Griffin off at this point is premature. Though there is more than enough reason to be concerned if you're a fan.
    But let's not forget that:
    a) The Redskins offensive line is horrific, but it is a stretch to blame that for how bad he looked against the Bucs.
    b) He is two months off a devastating ankle injury and might still be either not at 100 percent or just nervous about getting re-injured. I know he's not supposed to consider it, but it happens after what had to be an extremely painful injury. And he also spent at least the first half of last season working back from major knee surgery that he might have come back too soon from.
    c) He has played only a handful of games with Desean Jackson, who is one of the fastest players in the game. Doesn't surprise me that he would overthrow him, with his timing and mechanics likely still a bit off. Not to mention being under pressure most of the games.
    d) I really don't know how to explain the problem with his drops, other than he still is trying to learn the intricacies of the system.
He is obviously a bright guy and still has talent, so I'm gong to wait it out and see if knocks the rust off. Though I don't know if the current climate in DC is going to do him any favors. Griffin should never have said what he said, no matter how right he is or if it was taken slightly out of context. And I'm glad Gruden said what he said. It needed to be said, and it will be taken one of two ways. If Griffin continues to act like a diva, it will not end well. I don't see Gruden going anywhere until at least after another rough season.

Vick has had a pretty good career. I don't know if he's fully appreciated for what he's done because his passing numbers have always been pretty mediocre by today's standards.

But he's a NFL starter 14 years into his career. I don't care who you are, that's an accomplishment.

Griffin might benefit from bringing someone like Vick in as a backup. RG3's biggest problem is that he doesn't seem to undestand or accept that he might be the problem in DC. If Gruden gets canned, he's going to have that Coach Killer tag, which is amazing since both coaches he's played for have had tremendous success either developing quarterbacks or taking them to the next level.

I don't know if RG3 is done, but one of the two (him or Gruden) will not be in Washington next year.

I like to call this post, "RecoveringJournalists's Greatest Hits and Hot Takes."

"It makes me wonder if Jay Gruden is trying to get canned."

"I think Gruden gets fired and RG3 gets to handpick his replacement and how could that possibly go wrong?"

"I'm just waiting for Snyder to arrive in Waco with a blank check for Briles."

"So who is coaching the Redskins next season?"

"Griffin might benefit from bringing someone like Vick in as a backup."

Firing Gruden after a season, for bickering with his broken toy, is totally something that little worm would do.

Are any of them that crazy?

I don't think Briles is coming to DC. I don't think he's that stupid.
