Went into Panera a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I could not possibly have been more disappointed. Way overrated in my book and I see no reason to go back.

In what corner of the country is Ralph's?

Never tried the Publix deli; that could be the stop sometime next week.

I'd never heard of Wegman's before the first time I went to visit my wife's family in upstate NY. It's just unbelievable. We have some cool high-end grocery stores here, but I can't imagine there's anything that over-the-top anywhere else in America. Just the scope of what they do there -- you could spend a full day just walking around that place.

  7. Fresh Mart, actually, is my favorite place. But while you can get great meat there, they don't really make sandwiches.

Ditto me, visiting relatives last Thanksgiving in Rochester. I was in awe.

Hey, hey, now! My last lay was not from Colombia. I no longer dabble in the South Americas.

Subway is a great place to eat. I am trying to decide between that and a burrito for lunch.

The Wegmans in my burg is always busy -- dawn to dusk. I drive by on the way to the office and the parking lot is always packed.
Want to know one of the big reasons why they're so popular? Employees are very customer focused, Wegmans is usually ranked as one the top 5 companies to work for in the COUNTRY.
Corporate says, our employees come first. Jeez, isn't that a novel concept (too bad the journalism biz doesn't notice). Happy employees + happy customers = big profits.
And for style purposes (and it's my job to know), there is no apostrophe in Wegmans.

Good point, patchs. I can't recall a single employee in there who was anything less than pleasant ... and that's a helluva lot of employees, as big as the place is.

I had the worst fast-food restaurant bathroom experience in my life at a Schlotzky's. My wife was waiting in line to order, I went to the bathroom (1 person at a time) ... it was empty, I went inside ... and it was as if Jackson Pollock had traded a paint can for explosive diarrhea. It was nasty and all over the every surface in there -- all walls, floor, SINK. I nearly puked on top of it, ran out of there and told my wife to abort mission. I don't remember where we ended up eating, or if I still even had an appetite.
