Israel and Leba-nin

  1. Good post. Hadn't really thought about it that way, but that's an interesting take.

Oh, and don't worry about some of these other cretins. They like stewing in their own vomit, and in vomiting all over every poster who isn't to the left of Ted Kennedy.

The president who supposedly is having his "every move thwarted by half the country" had a 90 percent approval rating after 9/11.

Where, exactly, has Bush been thwarted by the American people, without-a-pulse Democrats or the shit-for-brains Washington press corps? He got the invasion of Iraq -- in which not one of its justifications has come to fruition -- he wanted, the tax cuts he wanted, the Medicare boondoggle, Alito and Roberts on the Supreme Court, Bolton at the U.N., and Gonzales at the DOJ.

We've also got the Twin Towers missing, the ignored PDB and "All right, you've covered your ass now," the record number of terrorist attacks worldwide, "Bring 'em on," billions missing from the Iraq reconstruction fund, the piss-poor response to Katrina, the busted Treasury, the outed CIA operative, the vice presidential chief of staff that's heading to trial, warrantless wiretapping, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, Terri Schiavo, Jeff Gannon, the incompetence, the lying, and a near-worldwide lack of respect for the current president.

On that last note, the Lil' Commander really wowed 'em in Germany today, answering reporters' serious questions about the developing Isreal/Lebanon hornets' nest with that stupid-ass chuckle of his and saying, "I thought you were going to ask me about the BBQ pig we're havin'!"

But, you see, none of this stuff is Bush's fault. Evidently, it's my fault . . . because I didn't want him in the White House.

Take that talking point to Ken Mehlman, boys. I'm sure he'll think it's a winner.

Really, if Bush needed some insight on how to do his job with powerful interests "thwarting his every move," he should have spent more time talking to his predecessor.

Are you listing Bush screw-ups or media screw-ups?

Because at a glance, Schiavo, Katrina, the outed CIA operative and at least some of the Cheney stuff are all examples of major media fuck-ups. The Schiavo coverage was particularly asinine. I wonder if any newspaper outside Florida goes back, looks at its Schiavo stuff and says: "Yeah, we did the right thing there."

Also, there's plenty of blame to go around for the Katrina response.

As stated before, I'm no fan of the shit-for-brains Washington press corps, but . . .

It was the media's fault Bill Frist made a Schiavo videotape diagnosis from the Senate floor?

It was the media's fault Bush rushed to Washington from Crawford to sign the Schiavo bill?

It was the media's fault Tom DeLay suggested that "activist judges" were murderers?

It was the media's fault the GOP distributed a Senate memo calling Schiavo a "a great political issue" that "the pro-life base will be excited about?"

Come on, the Republicans might as well have put laces and stamped "Wilson" on Schiavo's brain-liquified head.

Sir, you have entered one of the biggest democrat quarters, or just plain Bush hater threads, in this country.

But welcome. There are some people that see your points.

Nobody worked to thwart Fredo's every move. They don't need anyone's help stepping in shit.

I think the South Park cartoon covered all of that quite nicely.

Yeah, lots of political fools got their dicks caught in spider webs on that one, but the dipshits in the media were more than happy to go rushing in with their flies open, too.

Two bodies found on Israeli ship attacked off Lebanon coast
JERUSALEM (AP) - The bodies of two of the four Israeli soldiers missing in a Hezbollah attack on their warship off Lebanon were found Saturday aboard the damaged vessel, military officials said.
The ship was severely damaged Friday either by a drone loaded with explosives or a missile fired by Hezbollah as the Israeli navy blockaded Lebanon as part of its military offensive against the guerrillas.
The warship was returning to the Israeli port of Haifa Saturday when the remains of the two soldiers were found in the wrecked part of the ship, the military officials said on condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to speak to the press.

Arab foreign ministers hold emergency meeting in Cairo over Israeli assault on Lebanon
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Arab foreign ministers held an emergency summit in Cairo on Saturday over Israel's expanding assault on Lebanon _ the worst Israeli attack on its neighbor in 24 years.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh presented his fellow Arab League members with a draft resolution condemning Israel's military offensive and supporting Lebanon's "right to resist occupation by all legitimate means."
The draft, a copy of which obtained by The Associated Press, also said the Arab League demanded the release of Lebanese captives and detainees in Israeli prisons, and supported Lebanon's right to "liberate them by all legitimate means."

And the G-8 is split. Bush doesn't want to call for a cease-fire, but the rest of the world's leaders want it and call Israel's response a dangerous over-reaction.

Welcome to the end of the world, or at least the one we knew.
Israel will respond with massive force, and it will bring more destuction as Hezbollah fires it right back. The rest of the middle east rallies to Hezbollah, while the U.S. and Israel stand alone.
Cooler heads need to prevail and soon.
All we need now is an American ship, plane or serviceman to get caught up in it and Bush will be forced to respond. And cue the REM song, "I feel fine."
Actually I feel sick to my stomach, the end is avoidable, but no one seems to care.

Of course it's avoidable. What the fuck is any of us accomplishing by any of these military actions? Nothing.

War is a vicious goddamn cycle that benefits no one ... except those ordering the war to take place, meaning those in power. Meanwhile, the rest of us, plain Joe-Schmoe citizens in every country, are getting killed by military weapons from whichever side, it doesn't make a difference, does it, when you're dead? And for ... what? It's all arbitrary, based now and historically, in large part on where you lucked out on being born. If any of us was born in Iraq 30 years ago, it very likely would be us strapping bombs to our chests and hiding behind other people's children while we shoot at soliders. That's the part nobody cares about, or seems to want to talk about. None of us chose how we were brought into this world.

But what are we all fighting for, not just the U.S. but any country in any war? To make us safer? Fuck that. Who's safer? I'm not safer. Nobody's safer when you're in a war. War does not make anyone safer. War makes everyone frightened.

Oh, sure, war might stop some crazy fuck's junior-high ego trip of aggression, and you might have to put down the Hitlers and the Napoleons of the world when they get on their high horses. But is it the solution to these situations?

When does war end? Honestly? When this war ends, the next one will come along in a few years, won't it? Of course it will. Different time, different place. Different politics. Different teams. But same aftermath. It always is. People are killed, destruction takes place, and one segment of society declares superiority, at the expense of another segment of society, which must move on and rebuild. And then we all go back to what we were doing, only moreso than before. But who really wins in a war? And when does it ever end? It doesn't. Piss on that. Piss on that Orwellian bullshit. War is not the answer. It solves nothing. It might stop something, for the time being, and that's a good thing. But it doesn't solve anything. And what we really need is a solution. To get out of this vicious cycle.

Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity. End of story.

And if step back and look at ourselves, we'll see that we're fighting like a bunch of 3-year-olds.

    "Hey, you stole my land!"
    "Hey, you stole my oil!"
    "Hey, you broke my toy!"
"Hey, you kicked me in the shin!"
    "Give it back."
    "Make me."
"I'll get my brother on you."
"I'll get my dad on you first."

War is unnecessary. Repeat: U-N-N-E-C-E-S-S-A-R-Y. [/hippie pacifist idealist rant over]

Fuck. I'm going to bed. ::)
