So she's Russian. Seriously, I thought my North African/Latinx relatives had the monopoly on that until I met folks from Eastern Europe.

I have those same fears about my cat, who was a little under two when I adopted her last summer. She's a sweet, odd, little soul who thrives on attention. I need to find someone who will love her as much as I do.

Plenty of senior dogs need homes. Should the occasional rise, I strongly recommend that you get to know a no-kill shelter in your area, that kind of low-key non-profit that gets lots of different kinds of dogs.

Keep Pounding. Your wife did. Do the same.

Whatever you do, whatever the pandemic may do to us, just Keep Pounding.

BTE, I'm sorry. I'm fully aware of how accommodating and wonderful you and yours are to animals.

Stories like this just suck out loud. And, similar to a good friend of mine who just took in a stray cat to live with her and her other cat, another one will cross your path. You'll take it in, and while it won't make the pain of your loss subside anytime soon, you'll perpetuate the circle of life.

    Take care ...

Condolences for all we lost of others.

Congratulations for all we found in ourselves.

Maybe there's balance in the loss and in the finding, in the unstoppable turning of things, in the terrors and the joys and in bearing the unbearable.

    Do what you can.

    I send love.

My brother-in-law died last night, he'd been sick but we didn't think he was that sick. Things went south fast and he was gone in two days.

Great, great guy. Married to my oldest sister for 53 years. A big factor in my life after my dad died when I was 10. Used to take me fishing. Taught my daughter how to use a jigsaw. Former high school football coach who worked his way up to principal before retiring. His twin sons live near them and he doted on his four grandkids.

I'm the youngest of six. He's the first from among the six of us, our spouses, our ex-spouses and our kids to go. Would never have guessed he'd be the first. And I fear, given our advancing age and various ailments, others may soon follow.

Heading out for his funeral tomorrow, stopping in DC and will go down with my son. My son will be one of the pallbearers. Uncle Dickey pretty much supplied him with all his fishing gear.

This fucking year cannot end soon enough.
