    I'll chime in here.

Blacks were judged by who they were created to be, and who they were didn't have to do with a sin.
Women were judged by who they were created to be, and who they were didn't have to do with a sin.
Gays are judged by the Bible, and it is their sin that convicts them.

I had a long time friend who was as gay as the day is long. He now speaks to groups about they can be liberated from that bondage of sin. He is happily heterosexually married. Mandisa, you know that girl you all liked on American Idol, sang the same tune about being freed. Hollywood, and Simon in particular, lashed out at her the same way you guys lash out at anyone who dares label homosexuality as the Bible does.

    Coincidence? I wonder....

I'm going to try and make this as simple as possible since we've got a few who obviously aren't following along very well.

We don't govern in this country based on what is or what isn't a sin. If we did, there'd be a whole shitload of fat people in prison right now.

If this is too difficult to understand, I can't help you.

The lack of adherence to Christianity's best lessons in this thread is sickening.

My niece is gay and has been for over two years. But it took her entire lifetime to come to that realization, as it often does for most gays. That being said, this is the most wonderfully sweet girl I've known in years, and the thought that she somehow needs to be "liberated" from sin by being deprogrammed so she'll like "sausage" instead is vile.

I actually feel dirty after having read your post.

And as an aside, left-handed people used to be considered evil and were "deprogrammed" to become right-handers. Now there's clear evidence that forcing a change of a person's real nature can be very damaging.
But, hey, as long as you're liberated I guess that's all that matters, right?

Interesting that you make this point. I was thinking a similar thought as I was listening to some more bigotted rhetoric this morning regarding this issue.

I find that there are many people in society that have still yet not evolved fully from our ape ancestores.

  7. From my copy of The Revised English Bible:

Leviticus 20:10 "If a man commits adultery with another's wife, that is with the wife of a fellow countryman, both adulterer and adulteress must be put to death"
Leviticus 20:13 "If a man has intercourse with a man as with a woman, both commit an abomination. They must be put do death"

Will the moralists in this thread please explain why you ignore one and wish to enshrine the other in the Constitution?

Yes, those people that, just like animals, don't know the difference between right and wrong.

Uh, Trounced, I believe the post before yours was meant for you. We're all waiting for you to respond.

I can be really fucking arrogant if I want to be. And exactly which three-quarters of the population want to see this become enshrined in the constitution? Because everything I've seen says you'd have a hard time getting even a majority to want to exclude a certain segment of the population from having certain rights. There's a big difference between being against something and wanting to see it put in the constitution that way.

But I stand by my statement. It may take a while, hell 20-25 years or so even, but gay marriage or something along those lines will become acceptable at least in the eyes of the government. Even the conservatives of my generation don't care that much about this issue. They aren't gay, no one is going to force them to marry gay, it's just not going to do much. Or as Kinky Friedman says, gay people should have the right to be just as miserable as straight people.

So this means I can sleep with another woman as long as she's not Canadian or American? Cool!

British girls, the line forms on the left, Swedish girls on the right. Please take a number and I'll be with you as soon as I can! ;D
