It seems Deadspin is about to go guns blazing at ESPN re: sex rumors

Yes, but that was a first hand account. Daulerio even saw the name of the recipient of the text. I'm not defending what happened yesterday, but I think that's a little different. Plus, Leitch published it. I believe Daulerio was just a writer at the time. Here's the link:

FWIW, my read is that the reaction in the blogosphere is extraordinarily negative.

Other than that With Leather post I've seen nothing positive.

Then they should have worked harder.

So, is ESPN going to actually do anything or just send out disappointed looks disguised as press releases?

I think this is the last we'll be hearing from ESPN. They don't want to give Deadspin any further acknowledgment. Probably the right move.

If so, then Deadspin's calculated gamble paid off. A zillion hits and no lawsuit? Let's do it again.

Even if I condoned this, which I don't, Deadspin will be hard-pressed to maintain ginormous hits with scoops on likes of Eric Kusilius. The "who gives a fuck?" factor is strong in this.

I'm working on a tip that Michelle Beadle is really cute. '

But until I can get it confirmed by someone high up the food chain, I'm not posting it on my twitter feed.

Bullshit. If they had sources, they would say they had sources. At the very least, quote them anonymously. They ran with what they had, which in the end wasn't much, but it was still pretty damn disgraceful.

And you know what? I bet they knew that all along...

For me, the highlight of this whole thing was this picture:

Followed, in the comments, by this picture:

Followed by this post: "I loved her in Miracle."

  12. Yeah, but they didn't land the big one: The bait was there for a huge, highly publicized fight. And since bait is all that was thrown out there, those zillion hits were from a zillion disappointed readers.
