Me, either. I believe they got it wrong, but I can certainly understand awarding a TD as the initial ruling (especially when the receiver comes out of the pile with the ball). And I'm not sure the replay conclusively shows otherwise. It appears to possibly show otherwise. But is that good enough?

I think people were itchin' for a smoking gun and just piled on this one.

I understand taking a test in the offseason but don't get this. Do the rules change from week to week?

There are thousands of rules and different scenarios that the refs have to go over.

Hoculi estimates he spends about 30 hours a week on refereeing stuff.

""Each official has to take a written test every week during the season and every month in the offseason," Hochuli said. "I personally spent an hour a day studying rules. Rules in the NFL are extremely complicated. Rules enforcement in the NFL is extremely complicated. We have a case book that has 1,000 plays. I find in order to stay on top of the rules, I read them all the time."

Me third. I watched it live, and I thought then and still do that at the very least it was a tie...so it's a TD.

No, but each test doesn't cover every single situation in the rule book and case book. It's a mixture of different situations. And there are unique situations in regards to possession, timing, situations on kicks, penalties at certain times, etc. And it's more than just taking a test each week. It's reviewing film of the previous week, of the teams you've got coming up. As well as conditioning. A lot of time goes into it. A lot.

Per multiple outlets, it's NOW over.

Regular officials will be on the field Thursday night.

Who cares whether it's a second job? Seriously, who gives a shit?

They're the best in their profession. They get paid for their expertise. Their working hours are irrelevant.

Your "Nice work if you can get it" comment is flat out stupid.
