MB, it's comparable to Tennessee in football, I think. Like Arkansas basketball, Tennessee football has a ton of fan support, but Tennessee isn't the hotbed of in-state talent that Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Georgia enjoy (also Mississippi, but that state is really too sparsely populated for both Ole Miss and MSU to thrive in my opinion). And if things get bad enough at the SEC football powers, seats will stay empty too. Happened at LSU in the 90s under Dinardo, for example.

It's a catch-22 job. You get the support and have the expectations, but it's a little harder to recruit enough quality than some places.

Not that anyone's speculating on this, but the Tony Bennett/Utah rumor has been debunked. Randy Bennett, on the other hand, might be a possibility, and Blaine Taylor could get a look.

Would Arkansas be interested in Billy Kennedy?

As far as the obvious candidates, I think we all assume it's Anderson's to turn down. If I'm Turgeon, sitting that close to the Houston hotbed and not far south of Dallas, I stay put. I like my chances to win there more.

Frank Martin could be an interesting candidate. Gillispie would do better at a place without expectations (A&M, as opposed to Kentucky) so I like him at Tech more than Arkansas.

I wouldn't touch Floyd. Just expressing pleasantries with him should be considered an NCAA violation (but of course, he's technically clean...). And I like Floyd. Just saying.

If Don Tyson really wants Arkansas to hire Anderson I don't see a way he's not the guy.

Well, unless the Walton family wants Arkansas to hire somebody else...

I think everybody should be stunned if Anderson doesn't wind up in Fayettenam.

Mike Gundy's favorite columnist thinks OU is looking at Buzz Williams, Tad Boyle and Terry Evans.

Boyle's a huge mistake. Would be surprised if Buzz went there, unless he think's a Marquette Elite Eight appearance is long-term hopeless.

I was a little surprised the national sites hadn't floated any names for the OU job. I'm definitely underwhelmed by that list.

It will be very interesting to see who N.C. State ends up with. Wolfpack fans are going to float rumors and talk about Rick Barnes because he's some kind of folk hero to them after standing up to Dean Smith years ago, but that ain't happening.

Somebody that usually has good sources said Sean Miller is willing to listen, but will probably stay in Arizona because he thinks the Cats could be really good next year. Mark Turgeon was mentioned, but he wasn't interested when he was at Wichita State so I can't imagine him leaving Texas A&M for N.C. State this time.

An interesting name I heard was Chris Mooney. He could be good, but I think there would be a riot in Raleigh if another Princeton-offense guy was hired.

Oh, N.C. State. This is one where you just grab a bite to eat and sit back and watch the hilarity/insanity. And that's coming from someone who grew up cheering for the Pack, and still wishes 'em well.

You can win at NC State - you can run a clean program at NC State. I don't know if you can do both.
