BTW, it turns out Pearl was violating NCAA rules as recently as...two weeks ago.

OK, so I had on my orange colored glasses, but...

UT is second in overall SEC losses for the original schools, second in overall attendance, has more wins over UK than any other school, IIRC 8 SEC titles blah blah blah.

No Final Fours. As the world's only dual UT/Mizzou fan, I am uniquely cursed with lack of Final Fours. Hell, even Cub fans can look back (waaaaay back) at a World Series!

Back to Arkansas. Just going off memory here, but as we talk about how great of a job Arkansas is, am I correct in thinking Arkansas has gone longer without an SEC West title than every other team in the division? Hasn't it been since something like 95 since the Pigs won the division?

In that time, MSU, Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn and Alabama have all won more than once.

With Anderson moving out of the picture -- apparently, at least -- we'll find out just how attractive this job is.

Now, having said all that, even if Arkansas is mediocre, it'll still be top 2 in attendance in the West. Alabama is probably up there with it this year because they got hot and started packing their awful old arena. Everybody else? Not so much.

But the Providence fanbase also isn't quite as delusional, nor are the expectations as big. UT and OU have been to the Elite Eight within the past two years. Capel probably got jacked too soon, and pity the Pearl replacement if he doesn't beat Kentucky ASAP.
PC fans have come to terms with the fact that it's a steppingstone job in which anybody who has some success will soon be out the door, and would be happy to finish in the middle of the Big East pack. In a four year cycle, one NCAA bid and a couple of NITs is enough to keep Friar fans happy.
Cooley is talking to PC...I still fear, though, that there are people within their athletic department who will do anything to foil any candidate with URI ties.

Bozeman worked as a scout for the Raptors. Butch Carter did some work for Bozeman at Cal (exactly what that was is a matter of debate) and returned the favour

Plus Arkansas' overall hoops history (SWC included) is much better than Tennessee's.

Wasn't Sidney Moncrief getting into coaching a few years back? Don't know if he is still following that path, but he could stir the passions.

There. Moncrief's name is now "out there" for all you coaching search reporters.

Moncrief got into and out of the college coaching business very quickly. He was at Arkansas-Little Rock for a disaster of a season in which the Trojans finished a strong 4-24. Best story out of that year: After playing a conference game in Denver, the assistant coaches and the rest of the team flew back to Little Rock. Moncrief and his family stayed behind to get in a little skiing before returning home.

I think he did OK as one of about 20 Dallas Maverick assistant coaches a few years ago. Not sure what he's up to now.

I think Joe Kleine and Corliss Williamson are both into coaching now. And maybe Arkansas could lure Scott Hastings out of the broadcast booth.

I think Corliss coached one of the worst teams in Division I at Central Arkansas (dead last in the Southland).

What he might do though is try to join the Arkansas staff if they hire a coach without Nolan ties who wants to establish ties to the Nolan years. Bring Corliss in as an assistant and teach him how to, you know, coach...

ProJo reports Cooley's a done deal at PC. He's back at Fairfield today speaking to administration and the team.
