It's that time of year: College coach carousel!

The last two hires on Rocky Top were coaches that had just knocked Bama out of the postseason. So look for the next guy to come from Colorado, Wichita or Wazzu.

I feel safe in speaking on behalf of Hawkeye fans everywhere when I say that I'm looking forward to Steve Alford getting another chance to coach in the Big 10.

The only way Dixon and Wright are even close is if they are being chased with torches and pitchforks in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, unbeknownst to the rest of us. Don't think that's the case, so let's move on.

Anthony Grant: Nice idea, but does Tennessee really think it's that much better than a conference rival? Only Kentucky and maaaybe Arkansas could claim that, not the folks in Knoxville.

Mark Turgeon does make sense, not only because I suspect Debbie Yow might give him a ring, but also because how much will anyone in College Station care about the basketball program. Until Gillispie breathed life into the program in recent years, it was easily among the worst and more irrelevant programs in a BCS conference.

Gregg Marshall? Maybe after his last few years at Winthrop, but why now? Just what has he accomplished at Wichita State that has earned him this kind of consideration?

Why would Grant leave Bama for another SEC school unless it was Florida? Makes no sense whatsoever.

There's another SEC program worth departing Tuscaloosa. Well, if Kentucky were available and John Calipari didn't leave the place a complete mess ... I mean, Pastner hasn't been too bad in Memphis ...

Grant has a pretty damn good gig. He's at a football school, but if he makes the NCAAs two out of every three years or so they'll leave him alone. They have the money to make sure he hangs around.

People also forget that he was on the verge of being named Florida's coach after Billy D took the Magic job.

This just in from Oxford. Ole Miss has declined to give Andy Kennedy a contract extension for a fourth year. Don't think they could have sent a clearer message that it's make the NCAA Tournament next year or hit the road.

Maybe so. But give someone in Oxford credit. If Andy Kennedy doesn't get that fourth year, how can be possibly himself or the program to a recruit?

When does he get canned? He hasn't made the NCAAT since returning from Arkansas, right?
