I'm glad they didn't get Tubby or Alford. At least this guy will be easier to get rid of if he fails.

Nope, you're still dodging, and still creating things that were never said.

Back to the original question, now repeated for you here and in the other thread. First you said VCU, Butler, and every other mid-major in the tournament had only one great player. Then, in a different thread, you started trumpeting how much talent VCU has and will have.

    Which is it?

THAT is the question. Answer it, please. Do not refer to Rivals -- that has nothing to do with what you said. Do not bring up 15 other things. Do not talk about how long you have been a fan.

In college basketball, a blue chipper is a great player.

Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, etc... are five star blue chippers and a great players in the universe of college basketball.

Gordon Heyward, Jamie Skeen, Eric Maynor, Adam Morrison, etc... are very good players in the world of college basketball, but they are not blue chippers. They are four star, three star and all the rest. These are the players that fall to the mid majors.

Sure, players like Malone and Stockton come from mid majors and have HOF NBA careers, but that is a much shorter list than the recruits going to the major schools.

Are you getting lost that I consider a three star player who has played four years of college basketball more talented, and a better player, than a five star freshman?

If I keep answering your questions, will you tell me what your handle used to be?

So what is a great player if you are throwing out the high school rating system?

How do colleges decide who a great player is?

    What do scouts do?

Sure, when Duke sends a kid a letter, he jumps up the board without even playing. That is a flaw of the system. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Stop redefining blue-chippers. You've done that again and again. That has nothing to do with your various inconsistencies.

You said all the mid-majors together had only one great player. Then you said VCU has all sorts of talent waiting in the wings. How do you explain this? Are you a bandwagon jumper? Are you just trying to sound like you knew VCU was good?

Answer those questions. Do not bring up other things. Here's a tip: Your answer should mention VCU. It should not mention the word "blue-chip" unless it fits with the answer.

It sure as hell isn't Rivals, et al, who decide what a great player is.

VCU is putting together a package of well over $1 million a year for Shaka? Interesting. Way more than I thought they'd be able to offer.

$1.4-1.7 million a year at VCU >>>>>>> $2 million a year at NC State

It's very possible for those mid-major leagues to not have a truly great player (someone like a Walker or Williams), but to still have lots of talent. There's nothing inconsistent about that at all. Your constant belaboring of this point, on two threads, isn't advancing any type of intelligent discussion. In fact, it's so off that you actually have me defending 93Devil on a basketball thread.

Yeah, if that's true, he should stay and wait for an opening better than NC State.

See, now that might be a decent answer. Not a good one, but a decent one. Don't worry, policeman, I'm about done trying to get him to answer. You can patrol another beat soon.

Wise choice. If they were pursuing Rick Barnes and Sean Miller with a straight face, there's no way the already ravenous fans down there would have given Smart much of a grace period before expecting regular deep runs in the tournament.

And yeah, mid-$1 million at VCU beats the snot out of $2 million at NC State.
