It's that time of year: College coach carousel!

Having covered Gottfried for four years at Alabama, I can say he's a good guy, very media-savvy, runs a clean program and is a pretty solid recruiter. But he's also a "roll the ball out and let them play" kind of coach, and I'm not sure he'll get the athletes at N.C. State that will allow him to win consistently. That's what killed him at Alabama; he made a couple of bad assistant coach hires in the Xs & Os department, and lost a bunch of games he had no business losing.

 

Mark gottfried? Where are all the good candidates.

 

Interesting. A guy I read on another board who seems to have some cred/connections had basically the opposite to say about him:

I'm not discounting what you said - you're obviously plenty familiar with him as well. Just interesting to see how two people wind up with the opposite assessment of a guy.

That tells everything you need to know about Alden. That is so obviously bullshit, and he thinks that just because he said it, people will believe it. What an incredible ego on such a mediocre AD. Good fundraiser, poor AD.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in that 2-hour meeting last night to approve the hiring of Haith. I'm betting Alden was on the receiving end of some haymakers during that whole time.
