It's that time of year: College coach carousel!

He always seemed frazzled to me. You want some excitement from your coach, but he always seemed like he was holding $5 at the front of the $10 buffet line.

I forgot about that year Alabama took the gas pipe. It was pretty brutal.

    He'll fit in at NCSU.

She was a grease fire at Saint Louis U twenty years ago. Kept getting promoted upward. Never understood that.

N.C. State fans are loving it, at least the message boad crowd, but I think it makes her look awfully bad. She could have made her point without calling Williams out by name and sounding like a scorned teenager with her repeated "whatever"s.

Did NC State fans love it when The Fridge and Torrey Smith kicked N.C. State's ass in the season finale.

Or perhaps the NC State fans had a good time when one of Gary's worst teams at Maryland beat the piss out of Sidney's boys in the winter.

Am I the only one who is put off a bit by how much of a role a member of the media played a role in what should have been Yow vs. Williams?

I like Gregg. He's probably one of my three favorite columnists at this point. I think he knows college hoops better than anyone. This publicity is fantastic for him. I don't think he did anything wrong.

I question why the Washington Post's blogger would make Gregg such a big part of the story. Can't he get someone other than another member of the media to comment?

Seems lazy and I expect more from the WP.

Those doing the hiring got what they deserved . . . Lowe, who was in so deep he had to fail. He never had a chance, after that first year.

Hard to not make him a part of the story when he makes comments like he did on the radio show in North Carolina yesterday:

And to be fair, it's Steinberg's job to cover what the sports media is saying about Washington's sports teams.

Not to mention Kennedy Winston and Ronald Steele. Gottfried was successful for a time at Alabama thanks to his excellent recruiting, but he's a terrible Xs and Os guy and an even-worse motivator.

Alabama perpetually got drilled on the road by middling teams like Ole Miss. NC State will run the same, stale high/low post crap he coached as an assistant at UCLA under Jim "Basketball Class" Harrick.

What makes N.C. State think that a coach who crashed and burned in 10 years in the SEC (fluky Elite Eight bid was a notable exception) will succeed in the ACC, a much tougher hoops conference?
