I just read the first 10 pages of this thread...shameful.

This post has the intellectual heft of the average Bodie post.

It's so simplistic as to mean nothing.

Is today, "post as if you were someone else day"?

Why are you using Drip's playbook?

Non sequitur, deflection, refusal to answer a question, or make a solid point.

Let's go with your analogy. So, no evidence the Astros are any good based on beating a team of Little Leaguers. OK, but do they look like fool? Why does the defense look like fools? They made one bad joke in the opening statement. Big deal. It's like the Astros starting pitcher walked the first batter of the game before settling down.

    First impressions are pretty important.

The prosecution has had multiple witnesses blow up in their face. (And, they've blown up because of effective cross examination.)

The defense told one bad joke.

But, in your mind, they both look like fools.

    Um, ok.

Today the prosecution successfully proved that Zimmerman repeatedly lied about his prior familiarity with Florida's 'Stand Your Ground' law.

"Zimmerman's former teacher at Seminole State College, was "devastating" to the state’s case. Carter "legitimized the very defense of self-defense in front of these jurors, and the state -- you could see the blood draining from their faces," Sheaffer said.

Or you're seeing what you want to see because you're glad Zimmerman did what he did.

    Not at all.

I've said all along that it was an avoidable tragedy, and that Zimmerman's actions (as well as Martin's) led directly to the tragic result.

    I wish it hadn't happened.

But, from what I've watched and read -- regardless of what you think of what happened that night -- the prosecution has been widely criticized. By all accounts, several of the witnesses they've presented have bolstered the defense case.

If there are criticisms of the defense -- beyond the knock knock joke -- I'm happy to hear them.

But Ace (like Drip) often posts reflexively when we're dealing with an issue of race. So, instead of knowing what he thinks, I know how he feels.

    1. Don't compare me with Drip

    2. I don't see this as a race issue. I see it as mainly as an issue of a person who should not have a gun using it and being propped up by foolish laws that encourage the shooting of people who scare you.

    3. Do you think the jury is going to make a decision based strictly on facts and evidence or impressions?

YOU may not personally see it that way, but 90% of the country see it that way. Just watch the networks and how they cover it.

Obviously this is a broad brush, but I've yet to see an African-American legal analyst or talking head on TV side with Zimmerman. There may be some out there, but they're not on TV.

A lot of people have already made up their mind about this case, long before any real facts were presented. And that's disturbing, no matter what side of the fence you sit.
