Exactly...one side said Zimmerman followed Martin, the other said Martin ambushed Zimmerman as he walked back to his truck after trying to find an address to tell the inbound police where he was. To say he, without question, deserves jail time is absurd. He saw suspicious activity in an area where there had been recent break-ins, he called the police and discussed things with the dispatcher. Why does he deserve jail time if, as he contends, Martin jumped him and he feared for his life? Nothing in the trial has proven anything different happened.

But ... but ... but ... he's white. Just ask the New York Times.

Phrased a little differently, "the police knew from the start there was no real case here, until political pressure ginned up the need to turn this into a media show trial," I would agree with you.

If he feared for his life, should he have just taken his getting killed and moved on? Well, not really "moved on," but you know what I mean. That's the issue...Zimmerman said he feared for his life and claims Martin told him, "You are going to die tonight." So, no, I don't think you can say he should have just taken his ass-beating.

That's the heart of the defense...that Zimmerman feared for his life after being ambushed. The eyewitness said Martin was on top of Zimmerman, pounding him "MMA-style." Martin told him he was going to die. If this is all true, and the prosecution has done absolutely nothing to prove it wasn't true, he was well within his rights.

The reason this was brought to a trial in the first place is simple. I could explain it, but I suggest you go re-read the first eight or so pages of this thread. That will tell you all you need to know about how this was initially presented by an agenda-driven media.

How was he to know that he would just get his ass beat? All it takes is one punch, or fall in the wrong spot, and he could have wound up dead, or a vegetable.

Why would the defense want to prove the defendant is a liar?

Zimmerman's attorney seems to be rambling during this request for acquittal.

He would not have been killed.

Again, you know that for a fact, HOW?

I mean, if you really want to assume, try to assume on both sides of the coin, not just one.

Zimmerman's injuries weren't that serious and there was none of his DNA on Martin's fists.
