Let me preface this: None of this would happen if George Zimmerman hadn't been a paranoid wannabe cop. He didn't catch Trayvon Martin burglarizing a house or car. He didn't catch him vandalizing anything. While we know now that Trayvon was hardly an angel, he wasn't doing anything that night except walking home. Zimmerman needs to do time, if for nothing else but interjecting himself into a situation the police asked him not to.

That said, it's pretty tough to find justice in a situation where one side is only going to accept one decision, or else there will be violence. At least if you believe the rantings on Twitter and Facebook.

By the way, where is Facebook and Twitter on these posts and pages threatening violence? Isn't that at least against their regulations if not the law?

Totally agree with you. It's going to be an all-or-nothing verdict in the eyes of some. If there's not a murder charge with subsequent life in prison sentence, there will be backlash.

As for the part bolded, that's such a huge misconception about this case. A 911 dispatcher told him not to follow Martin, and he said OK. It's in the transcripts. Either way, a 911 dispatcher is NOT A POLICE OFFICER. They are only there to answer the phone. The dispatcher telling Zimmerman "we don't need you to do that" is more of the dispatcher trying to protect Zimmerman than Trayvon Martin. Earlier in the call, that same dispatcher told Zimmerman to let the dispatcher know if Martin did anything.

Exactly...one side said Zimmerman followed Martin, the other said Martin ambushed Zimmerman as he walked back to his truck after trying to find an address to tell the inbound police where he was. To say he, without question, deserves jail time is absurd. He saw suspicious activity in an area where there had been recent break-ins, he called the police and discussed things with the dispatcher. Why does he deserve jail time if, as he contends, Martin jumped him and he feared for his life? Nothing in the trial has proven anything different happened.

That's the issue...Zimmerman said he feared for his life and claims Martin told him, "You are going to die tonight." So, no, I don't think you can say he should have just taken his ass-beating.

That's the heart of the defense...that Zimmerman feared for his life after being ambushed. The eyewitness said Martin was on top of Zimmerman, pounding him "MMA-style." Martin told him he was going to die. If this is all true, and the prosecution has done absolutely nothing to prove it wasn't true, he was well within his rights.

My friend's daughter fell off her bike, hit her head on the concrete. Barely a scratch, no external bleeding, cried for only a little while, he said. She died later that night.

Dan Abrams:

I drew a legal conclusion on "Good Morning America" Saturday that would have surprised the Dan Abrams who covered the George Zimmerman case leading up to, and shortly after, his arrest.

Now that the prosecution's case against Zimmerman is in, as a legal matter, I just don't see how a jury convicts him of second degree murder or even manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
