Check out the link. While the story is saying how unlikely it is that Zimmerman will be convicted, the link reads "george-zimmerman-convicted-murder-manslaughter." How much wishful thinking do you think is going on there?

Man, take off the tinfoil hat.

The headline is: George Zimmerman Probably Won't Be Convicted of Murder or Manslaughter -- Here's Why

That's just standard eyeball-hunting practice to pick out the top words. "Probably" and "won't be" are not big drivers on Google.

The most damaging testimony was from neighbor who witnessed Martin on top of Zimmerman. The only direct witness other than Martin himself.

Stand your ground? I think Trayvon Martin was standing his ground too. He just didn't have a gun.

One problem with having a gun and wrestling on the ground with someone, is the fear that your weapon will be taken away from you and you wind up getting shot by your own gun.

I am not surprised that the weapon got discharged into one of them. Could have gone the other way, or been entirely prevented if a weapon had not been on the scene. Or if this, if that. Lots of ways it could have been different, but given the presence of one weapon and a wrestling match, I'm not surprised the gun went off. Not surprised one of the two got hit either. I have no info on how GZ managed not to shoot himself in the process. Was that covered in the trial?

After the last few days of reading twitter and seeing how hateful people are being on both sides, I honestly can't wait until this trial is over and the subsequent backlash after his acquittal has died down.

The national media screwed this case up from the very beginning, trying to spin a narrative from the outset. And now that the facts are coming to light, people are having a hard time comprehending how something that seemed like a slam dunk a year ago has turned into what it actually was from the start, an unfortunate case of self-defense gone horribly wrong.

Like I said earlier, I just wish people were this passionate about all the shootings in Chicago. Where's the outcry for justice for the 12 killed in Chicago this past weekend?

national media is just Short Attention Span Theater. The 12 killed in Chicago takes effort, and effort that no one will read or watch

Just so you know: You're going to be a busy man checking for and an old, tired man waiting for equal or proportional outcries for every unjust killing that isn't covered by the national media. That list is really long.

That's what I was talking about when I said to re-read the first eight pages of this thread. People made complete asses of themselves and have yet to admit they were dead wrong.

There will be no victors in this case. Lawyers will get rich. People will be upset and Trayvon Martin will still be dead. Unfortunate all the way around.

why was he in this neighborhood? Is it a gated community?

Would Zimmerman have been able to walk Trayvon's neighborhood, unmolested, at a similar hour?
