Interesting to me that Sharpton's name keeps coming up. He's barely attached to this story, much less driving it.

The story has nothing do with Al Sharpton. Al Sharpton didn't create a dead kid or the guy who killed him. The only reason to keep making it about Al Sharpton is that you are so bigoted that you can't bear to discuss a story with racial overtones on its own merits. Crying "Al Sharpton" makes it OK in your mind to be dismissive.

You must not be watching MSNBC then because he is on every showing talking about it, which by the way I applaud.

Al has grown and I've grown to like and better understand him.

As sidebar his mother passed away yesterday but he announced that he is still going to the rally tonight in Sanford.

    I'm not.

(In fact I watch no cable 'news' at all, which is likely the source of some of the occasional upset I cause around here.)

Oh, I agree. He's chasing the story, not driving it.

It takes some work. At time it happened there was very little national attention about the story.

There is more information now because there is a federal trial going on. Thankfully the judge ruled to release a wealth of detail previously held back, that is very damaging to the police. I would venture to say that if it was released at the time it would be a national story.

It now comes out that a 2nd officer fired .... at the cop on hood of car.... not knowing he was a cop but just some guy with a gun. No mention yet of who fired first.

Begs question if cop on hood heard gun shot that prompted him to fire.

It is now clear with the details coming out, why the police did their best to hold back important information.
